You can do it in a kayak

Last night my family and I ran around with a video camera taping all the places people can make reminder to vote calls. It was fun. A bit embarrassing (well a lot embarrassing!). But it's for a good cause--the election is literally just around the corner--and my kids had a good time figuring out where to film like in the kayak, up in a tree, and other wacky places.

What happens in 10 days, 49 minutes, and 15 seconds depends on you, Mom

In the hurly burly of lunch making, homework supervising, and keeping a family on track, many busy moms miss their chance to go vote on Election Day.

You can help.

Can you take 1 hour of your time to make some phone calls from the comfort of your home to help "turn out" the mom vote?

Work Life: Moving from the Personal to the Political

I am glad that the 2008 election has raised the issue of working families. This has been a "sleeper" issue, but no more! After the nomination of Sarah Palin, working families are responding in such high numbers that they are jamming the airwaves, filling up blogs, even crashing websites as they make their varying opinions heard!

What Women Wish Gwen Ifill Could Have Asked

Gwen Ifill was hobbled by more than a broken ankle at the vice presidential debate. The rules prevented her from asking any follow-up questions. I work with eleven statewide coalitions representing a million people, all fighting for policies that value families at work. Here are some questions we wish Gwen Ifill had been allowed to ask:

The First & Last VP Debate: This Soccer Mom Isn't Buying

The other night, as the first and only vice presidential debate was starting; I was scrambling to get to my car from a rainy soccer field where I'd been standing on the sidelines with other parents while watching kids play. Jumping over mud puddles and dodging fast moving vehicles in the parking lot, my two soccer-playing kids and I scurried to the warm dry safety of our car.

About last night...

Sometimes our kids know more than we do. Children know that if they keep asking their parents the same question, over and over, they might just get the answer they are looking for.

There are 2 important election tasks on busy moms' to-do lists this week - check them off!
