You can do it in a kayak

Last night my family and I ran around with a video camera taping all the places people can make reminder to vote calls. It was fun. A bit embarrassing (well a lot embarrassing!). But it's for a good cause--the election is literally just around the corner--and my kids had a good time figuring out where to film like in the kayak, up in a tree, and other wacky places.

If we can make an embarrassing video, can you make an hour of phone calls to remind busy moms to vote from the comfort of your home (without a video camera rolling--we promise!)?

Your help calling moms and reminding them to vote is needed now more than ever! We've identified thousands of moms in your area who are registered to vote, but who have missed voting in one or more of the last three elections--which means (statistically) that a gentle reminder from you could make the difference between them getting out to vote, or not, on November 4th.

Making reminder to vote calls is super easy: When you sign up, we'll send you everything you need to make your calls (including a sample phone script to follow), plus we're available to help if you have questions. You choose the calling time & date that work best for you--as long as it's before the polls close on November 4th!
Take a moment now to forward this email to friends and family so they also have a chance to make a difference before Election Day is over.

All dialing hands are needed. There's concern that some voters may end up staying away from the ballot box this year because after reading the headlines about who's ahead in the races, they may think their vote isn't needed. But polls don't elect Presidents--we do. And the only way to make sure everyone is counted is to make sure everyone gets a chance to vote.

Studies show that the simple act of asking, "Can we count on your vote this year?" makes a big difference in whether someone makes it to the polls on Election Day. None of us want to wake up on November 5th wondering if we could have done more.

Will you help us call moms to make sure they have November 4th on their calendars?

And don't forget to invite your friends to make calls too! Forward this email far and wide so everyone gets a chance to lend a hand.

Thanks,

P.S. Here's the family video.

P.S.S. Check it out. Here are some folks who actually know how to use a camera! This Friday, PBS stations across the country will begin airing a story that talks about the work MomsRising.org has been doing to try to get the candidates (and the media) to focus on the MOTHER issues that matter so much to so many of use. NOW with David Brancaccio will begin airing a show that asks, "Will the women's vote be a deciding factor in the election?" on Friday, October 31 at 8:30pm Eastern Time. PBS stations make their own decisions about when to air programming, so please check your local station's web site to see when it will air this fantastic program!

Another way moms can help GOTV tomorrow

Dear MomsRising.org,

Thanks for reminding us that we can help get out the vote by reaching out to other moms and reminding them to vote. Here's another way we can help:

Young, first-time voters (among them, our own daughters and sons) are said to be notoriously likely to miss voting for one reason or another, even if they are registered and have the best of intentions about getting to the polls on election day. This voting block is likely to be crucial in tomorrow's election and it is critically important that they turn out to vote in the greatest numbers possible.

As moms, we can help make a difference by reminding our first-time voting sons and daughters to get to the polls, no matter what -- and by helping them get there, if need be.

Hey, we got them to school and to all those soccer games, music lessons, debate tournaments, and play rehearsals... and now, even though they're young adults and not children any more, we can still help get them to one more important activity: VOTING.

Whether it be a reminder or a ride, let's do whatever we can to help get them to the polls tomorrow -- or today, if you are in a state where there is early voting.

Thank you, MomsRising, for all the good work you do --------

T. M.
